Representation Summary:

Then why are you so intent on destroying our local countryside? The development in and around the Hoo Peninsula is extremely damaging environmentally and once the countryside is paved over there can be no going back. Protect rather than develop it. The proposed developments are totally contradictory to this stated aim.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Prepared for a sustainable and green future

Representation ID: 413

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jill Norton

Representation Summary:

Your proposed developments and development sites for the Hoo peninsula are totally at odds with this stated aim. Furthermore the infrastructure in terms of roads and essential services e.g. doctors etc are totally missing or unachievable. The roads in this area are already at capacity. Adding thousands of new houses will only make this even worse and add to climate issues. This is not sustainable.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Supporting people to lead healthy lives and strengthening our communities

Representation ID: 414

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jill Norton

Representation Summary:

Again the reality of the Hoo Peninsula is totally contradictory to this aim. The developments that have taken place and are now being proposed are just putting extra strain on the existing resources and infrastructure with no additional facilities made available. You are concreting over the countryside with houses and no supporting facilities. We already have a very limited GP presence, the Hoo leisure centre is significantly worse and under resources than any other Medway leisure centres and the roads are seriously inadequate.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

Securing jobs and developing skills for a competitive economy

Representation ID: 415

Received: 06/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Jill Norton

Representation Summary:

Perhaps to be a thriving economic centre the whole stupidity of charging for parking should be reviewed. The proximity of free parking at Hempstead valley and Bluewater shows what a disastrous impact parking charges have on the local commercial and retail centres.

The if it is not fit for purpose we should openly and clearly oppose it and refuse to use it. If we know it is wrong it is wrong to use it to destroy our natural resources. We should lead the way in fighting it and getting a system in place that is attuned to local knowledge and needs.

It is clear that all the proposed developments on the Hoo Peninsula e.g. 800 homes in High Halstow between Britannia and Christmas Lane; the land between Dux Court and A228 should be firmly rejected. They are not sustainable and the environmental damage will be immense.
