Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.31

Representation ID: 1059

Received: 30/10/2023

Respondent: Mrs Maureen Crombie

Representation Summary:

Again, the 15 minute neighbourhood is heavily dependant on a superb public transport network. You are putting the cart before the horse if you build the residencies on the promise of walks, bikes and buses. Can you not see that the electric car is coming? The proposed plan should foster the idea that people want independence and space and not to be confined to a 15 minute zone?
Squashing as many properties as possible into a given area then telling the inhabitants to walk or bus to get around is a pipe dream.

Representation Summary:

In point 5:36, the proposal states the Hoo peninsular to be "markedly different in character" Should housing development take place to the extent cited in point 5:41, the 'different character' no longer will exist and so the different towns , neighbourhoods and villages - to which you refer earlier in your proposal are doomed are they not?
