Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.18

Representation ID: 1210

Received: 30/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Stephen Hesketh

Representation Summary:

Looking at the Urban generation map, the largest area for development under this category appears to be Chatham Docks. This is definitely not a given proposal and until recently the council and local MPs were set against this proposal. There is definitely not enough infrastructure in this area to support this proposal.

Representation Summary:

Any proposal by developers must be carefully considered by planners to ensure the buildings have an aesthetic appearance and fit in with their surroundings. There ae so many buildings in the Medway Towns which must have been rubber stamped without even being looked at.

5.24

Representation ID: 1221

Received: 30/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Stephen Hesketh

Representation Summary:

Transport needs a lot of consideration. The existing road structure is appalling. There are also constant road works everywhere you go. There is little or no coordination of these works as there was in the past. Local roads need to be upgraded before any further development and some clever ideas put in place. Much improved and safe cycle and foot paths are required. A circular bus route should be employed Chatham - Rainham - Gillingham with regular services and in-time information at bus stops. Consideration should also be given to a circular tram route.

Representation Summary:

Very important. Many of these sites have been left for years and the council should make landlords/landowners develop or go for compulsory purchase. I can never understand why land or properties are left to decay for years. these people obviously don't need the money. Take the shop just down from The Holywood Bowl in Gillingham with the old circular frontage. A complete eyesore and it's been like this for years. Time to get tough, should be treated as an environmental issue. These buildings have a serious effect on people well being.
