Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy DM17: Grain Branch

Representation ID: 1852

Received: 22/07/2024

Respondent: Mrs Stella Tiller

Representation Summary:

Re-instating the passenger railway line into Grain is probably the single best idea of this whole plan. The residents of Hoo are often complaining about the single main road exit from the area, causing congestion for those commuting out of the area. A passenger rail line makes total sense. Esp as it’s not possible to put an additional railway line/station to accommodate Lordswood, Walderslade, Hempstead and Lidsing (should it go ahead) making development in these areas virtually car dependent. However, it desperately needs to have a rail link between Hoo and Medway towns.

Policy T25: User Hierarchy and Street Design

Representation ID: 1853

Received: 22/07/2024

Respondent: Mrs Stella Tiller

Representation Summary:

Need to remember that a lot of people can’t use public transport for disability reasons, and therefore need to use private car. These polices make disabled people feel like pariahs and that needs to be factored it. Public transport doesn’t run 24/7 either, so negatively affects shift workers.

Policy DM19: Vehicle Parking

Representation ID: 1854

Received: 22/07/2024

Respondent: Mrs Stella Tiller

Representation Summary:

Pavement parking needs to be addressed as a priority given its impact on the disabled. It’s not just a problem limited to narrow streets. Roads like Clandon Road suffer with pavement parking despite the road being wide enough for it to be totally unnecessary. [REDACTED]

Roads like Clandon Road suffer with pavement parking despite the road being wide enough for it to be totally unnecessary. The pavement outside our house has had to be re-surfaced twice, and I’m about to report it again as pavement parking has warped and destroyed it to the point of dangerous ridges appearing.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

3.2.1

Representation ID: 1935

Received: 09/08/2024

Respondent: Mrs Stella Tiller

Representation Summary:

The Capstone Valley needs to be protected at all costs. It’s one of the few remaining open spaces south of the river in Medway authority, and plays an important part in preventing Hempstead and Lordswood being joined in one huge urban mass. It’s too far from mainline railway to be of use to commuters necessitating reliance on cars.
And the Capstone valley is even more important to the area since Maidstone includes Lidsing in their plan.

The bus network is woeful in Lordswood, esp if you want to get to anywhere except central Chatham in anything resembling a timely fashion.
