Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2024)

Policy T3: Affordable Housing

Representation ID: 2342

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

Local residents are often frustrated when previously green land is used for housing developments that have homes built on them that few of the local residents would be able to afford. The site off Pear Tree Lane is a good example of this. The need for housing is clear. The need for executive sized homes is less clear. There is also a lack of public transport available to these out of town sites which therefore put more pressure on the road system.

Policy T5: Student Accommodation

Representation ID: 2343

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

Student accommodation needs to be considered for the student for the length of their course. Very often it is only provided by the university for the first year. There are parents who are university educated who cannot see how they can afford for their children to have university educations themselves when the cost of the fees are also so high.

Policy T10: Gypsy, Travellers & Travelling Showpeople

Representation ID: 2344

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

There is a poor opinion of this community due to their regular invasion of local parks such as Luton Rec for example, which is left in a very poor start and is unusable by the general public for the duration of their stay. Better management of the security of these areas needs to happen. CCTV of entrances perhaps to aid in prosecution or other security barriers. Better communication between these groups needs to be looked at.

Vision for Access and Movement in Medway

Representation ID: 2348

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

Parents seem to have a tendency to ignore messages from school about parking when dropping off and picking up their children. They also ignore double yellow lines, zig zag lines and residents driveways. They ignore provisions for parking if that provision is not immediately next to the school. I do not know what the answer is but if more school zones are created where drivers are not allowed to drive past school during peak times, then much clearer signage needs to be shown for the motorist as current ones are not clear enough

Policy T14: Rural Economy

Representation ID: 2354

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

A significant amount of rural land will be lost to housing. This is a permanent change which will have large consequences. Urban spread has to be a serious consideration. The Medway towns will join closer to Maidstone and will lose a vital wildlife corridor that runs from Darland Banks, through the Capstone Valley and out to the North Downs AONB. The extent of the proposed development from both Medway and Maidstone councils will inevitably cause significant harm to the rural economy.

Policy S23: Hempstead Valley District Centre

Representation ID: 2360

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

At lot can be learnt from how Hempstead Valley is used by local people and why the centre continues to be popular and well used. The provision of free and ample parking is certainly part of the appeal as well as the diversity of shops and services.

Policy DM12: Local and Rural Centres

Representation ID: 2364

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

The ability to walk to a range of shops and services from home is a very good thing both to the resident for their health and community connection and the surrounding areas because of the reduction in traffic congestion. Each new housing development, particularly those on greenfield sites do not have these added into their plans. A large development needs to cater for residents in more ways than just housing and play areas.

Policy DM14: Dockside

Representation ID: 2367

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

I think the policy to ensure Dockside does not harm the existing high streets is stopping Dockside from reaching its full potential and therefore is hindering both sites by not enhancing the local area. This is a unique area for the town and more needs to be done to make use of the ex naval docks and the river side in general.

Policy DM17: Grain Branch

Representation ID: 2371

Received: 04/09/2024

Respondent: Mrs Victoria Holloway

Representation Summary:

A branch line to the peninsula is an essential development. There is vast amounts of land here that could better be used than it currently is and could relieve some pressure on already developed areas although it is essential that the ecology of the area is protected.
