Medway Local Plan (Regulation 19, 2025)

The amount of morbidly obese people in Medway is shocking. Yet another McDonalds is upon us. If you seriously want to put people at the heart of Medway shut down a load of these junk food shops. Put money into making gyms and dietary courses mandatory if necessary. Slightly out there, but given burden chronic health puts on our council money, a new tougher approach is needed. Better mental health, save as much green space as possible. Do not allow high density rabbit hutches to built. They offer no privacy and little community.

Needed I agree. But not at the expense of established communities. Other comments to follow.

Need to be in right place and at a decent standard. Need to be Council regulated to stop abuse of neighbourhood and tenants.

More robust planning application needed to fully explain the problems with waste, parking and noise. Stick to guidelines and enforce an Article 4. I do not understand why private developers out for a profit seem to have the upper hand over the Council and the people who pay there council tax.

I understand this, but feel it may not be an issue if the HMO is in a relevant area, not in the middle of a residential area or already crowded area. Where there is good access to public transport and amenities. preferably in a block / detached from quieter neighbourhoods.

Large HMOs in Medway

large HMO's should need a licence. But changing from C3 to C4 means they do not have to inform the neighbours, which I believe totally inadequate. As I have stated it is the neighbourhood that will have to live with the HMO. Smaller HMO should at least be made to register and state the purpose of the HMO. As you have stated you have no idea how many HMO's are operating in Medway. How many are abusing basic planning laws, over filling or taking advantage of residents? You don't know.

Again Medway Council needs a more robust planning application. It needs to stop developers using article 4 to get away with setting up where their own H7 stipulations say not to. Again these sort of applications need to be legally obliged to contact neighbours, so they have a chance to object.
