Representation Summary:

See comment on 5.8, the timescale for the LTC and its cost means it should be considered an obsolete concept , largely driven by commercial entities rather than realistic long-term needs.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.15

Representation ID: 1487

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Alexander Cameron

Representation Summary:

Suggest this work is reduced in scope as it's not about meeting our actual needs for housing which are more modest than external imposed targets. A top level assessment should allow the LAA to be filtered down to a realistic level. Lets not waste money on this.

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.18

Representation ID: 1508

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Alexander Cameron

Representation Summary:

Medway has not been successful in transforming its urban waterfront. These are poorly designed and constructed developments (one can see them already decaying) and the fabric of the developments is thermally inefficient, they have no renewable energy and do not realise the unique potential of the site.

Most are unaffordable for local people and have little infrastructure in places for the new people who have moved to Medway to live in them, in short poorly thought through and executed developments .

Medway Local Plan (Regulation 18, 2023)

5.19

Representation ID: 1519

Received: 31/10/2023

Respondent: Mr Alexander Cameron

Representation Summary:

Are we sure that our existing polices and strategies are fit for purpose?

My reading is that they are barely adequate, and an overhaul is needed.

Future developments on or near the Medway River and estuary could be subject of an international architectural competition with carbon negative construction and operation at its heart. Such a competition could then be judged by the residents of Medway with a concomitant increase in awareness and positive publicity for the Council.

But this also must include the infrastructure that underpins any future development. No infrastructre in place should mean no development.
