Good - we have some excellent and distinctive places around Medway so each development must fit its context. This can mean bold and brash alongside traditional and heritage where it fits.

The docks remain special for many and should probably retain their industrial heritage and infrastructure. They are valued for what they are today.
Medway City estate will be under water in due course, how is this being dealt with in the plan. The flood /sea level risk around Medway are very real and must be part of the local plan.

Note that there are no good public transport links in Medway, most are poor and unreliable.
The central areas are fragmented and disconnected, with too much focus on places such as the historic dockyard for example which are not community centres.
Our plan should connect our centers together more organically in ways that discourage cars but encourage folks to walk and cycle. Sadly, the legacy of poor planning is very visible in many of our centers, so rebuilding the communities in them will need a more rounded approach with active engagement and participation.

Medway has some of the best farmland in the United Kingdom. If recent events have taught us anything, it is that we are not even self-sufficient in the food that could be produced locally. To build on any farmland anywhere in Medway will be an act of vandalism, and an insult to those residents struggling to feed their families.
Whilst developers may love to build on such sites we must resist the temptation , once they are gone they are lost.

Assuming we are doing a long-term plan, please look at the potential long terms benefits as we switch to EV and similar technologies combined with better public Transport and how that will modify air quality but also change perceptions of where folks want to live.

The Peninsula is an ideal location for developing green technologies. The Local Plan can encourage any new buildings associated with it, to demonstrate the very latest in carbon negative building technology.

Potential sites should not translate into active sites without incredibly careful consideration.
